Saturday Saga

Holidays on Saturdays have been sporadic over the past and also at present were completely withdrawn due the university’s recommendations. This weekend all the inmates of the jail (Oops!! Did i…) a.k.a my college were left on a conditional bail with due summons pending on Monday morning. So, I decided to spend some time watching the television but this idiot box drew a lot of my time (rest of the day…) An array of events were lined up in all the channels but very few forced to stop the channel surfing

Baasha, the blitzkrieg
Even though I am an ardent fan of Kamal Hassan I love this exceptionally excellent movie of Thalaivar. The number of times I have watched this movie is countably infinite or in other words ‘n’ times where n (∞ (effect: Probability assessment tomorrow!!!). The flashback part is the most breathtaking sequence of the movie and makes you glued to the seats with its dazzling screenplay and background score. The gruesome facet is that the Xerox machine Deva is the music director of the film and I still can’t guess whether this is a strip off or original score. Indeed every dog has its day and every machine has its copy…

Kollywood vs. Tollywood
For anyone having a passion for both cricket and movies this was intended to provide good entertainment and it somehow made the mark if watched partially. The match was played 30 overs a side at the M.A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai and I felt it was a bit lengthy for a film stars cricket match may be 20 would do and there were very few people in the stadium as many have decided to watch it in TV like me and also there was no much hype. Hats off to the stars they did a pretty decent job with the bat and ball and they have strained their limbs under going training before the match. Some displayed their marvelous skills as they have played the game for their college in the past.

Definitely, the star of the day according to me was Little superstar Chi… (Sorry Simbhu). He scored a duck (pity he played only the last ball) and bowling (He bowled around 15 balls a over). He dropped a laddu catch (probably he tried some style may be Dum symbol before catching… but by that time the ball had reached the fence and pity shankar was not there to correct it with graphics). Some stars also danced in the ground after a wicket fall. Definitely a different kinda match. Other things were not worthy of mentioning with the commentators blabbering something all the time, better they could have got some RJ’s for the event.

I think we can expect one from the female artistes, may be a throwball or a beach volleyball match and i am sure the stands would not go empty like the other one…enga paa en ticketu!!!

ThangaVottai…
Sorry I think they have named it thangaveatai (gold hunt). With every channel airing various game shows this one is by the famous sun tv with glamour girl Ramya Krishnan anchoring it wherein two teams would compete for gold coins after answering really stupid and dumb questions. Each team had a kid who was supposed to answer and another member giving clues.
RK: Kamal Hassan has acted in a movie varumayin neram _______
Kid: Hmmm…. clue
X: (Colur of blood)
Kid : varumayin neram red (ayyea…tamil la sollu pa…)
Oh…varumayin neram sivappu…
RK: Great answer!!! Take 3 gms of gold!!!
All other questions were similar to this and real entertainment guaranteed. Other rounds were also equally dozy and make fools of the audience sitting in front of the idiot box for an hour.
