Senseless Syndrome

I am totally crestfallen because my team lost in an ad-zap competition today. I am not in a position to console myself saying “Come on!! Failure is the stepping stone for success”. It was very saddening to see all the murky faces of my friends this evening. We have lost a lot in the past but this was definitely different. The college we went today was not of great eminence but they offered grandiose money as prizes (read higher than other colleges) and so they drew a decent crowd. As we four of us have bonded well in friendship over time, we have also emerged as a decent
Ad-zapping team in the engineering college arena. Thanks to our mentors who have been greatly responsible for kindling the interest in us.

Coming on to today’s story, we reached there hoping for a prize as always
we do (generally everyone does…). The prelims was totally sick with nothing related to marketing but anyhow we made it to the finals. Unable to digest our modest success a lot of people (read girls and some boys…) have also set off to compete against us. We didn’t consider them as valued rivals as there are a lot of above average teams competing there.
But somehow the other team also made it to the finals and we never minded. There was also confusion when we mistook that we have not qualified but later found our names in the backside of the paper. Generally performances are evaluated based on myriad facets and making the audience laugh or in other words the humour content with which you market is very vital but this sucking college was dumb in their evaluation.

There are certain conventions which each college prescribes (language, limits, vulgarity…). Those ass fucking people sitting over there didn’t prescribe those and simply said stick on to your limits. After a lull performance from the other team we got on to the stage and I would say even though we lacked on some fronts we performed pretty well. We also got good applause from the audience as we used some funky methods. At the end of our performance the fucking guy said that this is not the way of advertising. What the hell does he know??? Selling condoms, viagras or underwear is done casually in the IIT’s and they generally fire up more interest from everyone but I think these guys consider marketing them as a sin or some underage sex!!!

I would have not felt bad even if that prakash raj look alike guy’s team won.We called that fucking guy and argued with him and he somehow apologized for not briefing the conventions and said ‘guys you deserve the prize but I can’t …’ we have never felt for losing against some good teams but at the end of the day we have lost to a fucking lousy team.

Last weekend we attended the inter collegiate culturals conducted by Anna university ‘Techofes’. We got the first prize in the Ad-zap competition there but again dejection there too…no money and only a sucking gift voucher. The truth is there was very little competition excepting some 2 or 3 teams and we didn’t perform to our satisfaction but still we got the prize capitalizing on the previous round scores. The choreo nite was also good and we had a good day out.

But still I am unable to digest this defeat…
