LOK PARITRAN –Theme Song

Poruththadhu podhum pongi ezhundhom….

These are the lines I have been humming right from the time I downloaded this song. This is the theme song of Lok Paritran composed by a chennai based youngsters band called Oxygen. As far as I have heard many of the band members are students and what a song man. Powerful thought provoking lyrics, wonderful voice, music and coordination are really awesome.

This was played at the end of the party’s mass meet in Mylapore and almost everyone felt that this is gonna make splendid waves. Many said that it was in the lines of AR Rahman and then one comrade said about the band. Today i have heard to this song a lot of times and its worth downloading…

LOK PARITRAN –The Beginning…

First of all I would like to thank matter mama but temporarily turned serious Praveen for roping me into the campaign quest and all the other enthusiastic LP volunteers at Mylapore. I longed to do something and prav acted as a gateway and I also became one among them. Although I joined at the neck of the moment I am pleased with what I have done. Two days before the final campaigning day I went to Mylapore with the plan of doing some canvassing and volunteering but I stayed at my friend’s house and went there only in the evening so that at least I could attend the mass meet at Mylapore mangollai.

Mylapore Mangollai meeting
The mass meet was stated to start at around 6 but I reached there a little early and so I along with my classmate took a round in Mylapore. The meeting had a very decent crowd and was larger than expected with many elders providing great support. One thing I noticed was that there were no pamphlets strewn on the roads unlike an ordinary political meet. All those who spoke delivered effective messages and Santhanagopalan Vasudev (Mylapore candidate) assured governance free of corruption and promised all the basic amenities in the constituency if he were elected the MLA. Then everyone lit their candles and the LP theme song was played. It was very nice.

Then many other candidates, party members and volunteers spoke highly about the future prospects and many other aspects of the party. Then after the meeting there was an informal meet and all the remaining works were completed .All the volunteers were asked to come to Gopal sir’s house in the morning for the final day campaigning. It was then I met my cousin’s friend Balaji from IIT-M. Loads of thanks to Balaji for he volunteered to pick me up from my home in his bike the next day. Then I collected a few pamphlets and distributed them in the bus stand and buses. Many people gave a supportive voice and I felt happy.

The D-Day Campaign
The next morning everyone assembled at Gopal sir’s house and a bike rally was stated for the day. There were about 50 bikes and I was a pillion rider with Balaji. We all proudly wore our Lok Paritran t-shirts and arm bands, fixed the flags and were ready to start. A local group who had joined the party the previous week were instrumental in arranging the speakers, autos etc and did yeomen service.

Then our National President Tanmay Rajpurohith came and addressed all of us. What a man he is…his majestic looks and along with the charismatic soft speaking Santhanagopal, LP is gonna sky rocketing in the future. With the candidate SV in the center jeep the convoy started and the enthusiasm was spellbound. Tanmay and others also took off their bikes. Hats off to Dhiraj (DK) for skillfully organizing the pack.
“Stick to ur formation….pack in two’s….. Hey baiyya kya kare thum???” We traveled through many areas in Mylapore and then from beach road to pallikaranai, adayar, shastri nagar, RA puram, Besant nagar etc with guys campaigning “kodana kodi makkale, kodaliku vote podunga!!!!”. I would definitely say my enthu got dipped when we went through the fishing hamlets…they will be what they are!!! The same “enna MGR sethutaara….”condition prevailing. We were so tired after the hectic campaigning and returned to SV’s house after 4 hours.

Still 21/2 hours more and Tanmay said those who still have the stamina to campaign without taking your lunch stay. Almost everyone stayed!!! What a spirit!!!
Then we campaigned in the city…it was great fun shouting “Vote for Lok Paritran” amidst the hustling main roads of the city. We covered mount road, tnagar, west mambalam and other adjoining places yelling out “podungama vottu, Kodaliya parthu…..” when we reached mount road…”LIC heightu, kodali (LP symbol : AXE) thaan weightu…”and many other yells. At around 5’O clock we downed our flags and ended our campaign and went back to Mylapore and around 100 volunteers went to Hotel Maris and had our dinner. It was one full day I will never forget in my life and I am feeling proud that I have done something worthy.

Never worry about the results, after all this is the BEGINNING…..

THE BLUE BEAUTY –Was it a dream???-2

Nikhil was returning home late as usual and he was accompanied by one of his close friends Ondipuli a.k.a Tinku. They both started late from Heaven’s Dumping Yard(meeting place…) but a little time was saved as BFB dropped both of them in the railway station with the borrowed bike. They stood in the queue to get the tickets and as they got down the stairs the train started and left. What a bad luck!!!

‘We’ll have to wait for at least another 15 minutes for the next train da’, said Nikhil
‘No probs da machi…’ replied Tinku with his ever enchanting smile.
But within a minute the next train arrived. Nikhil travels regularly in train but has never seen two trains in such quick succession.
‘Get in here da, this is less crowded’ said Tinku.
As soon as they entered the compartment their eyes moved towards the girl clad in the blue salwar kameez. Nikhil took a glance and moved on to the other side but it was Tinku who was responsible for the day’s happenings.
‘Dei she looks good… we’ll go there and stand da, time pass!’ said Tinku.
‘Ok! As you wish, come on’ replied Nikhil
They both went and stood near the entrance enjoying both the warm breeze and the great looks. As Nikhil took another glance at her his sight fell on the man sitting next to her with whom she was conversing. The man was stout and hefty and no way resembled the girl and he felt that it could not be her father. In the meantime
‘Machi do you think that man is her father, I don’t think so…’ said Tinku.
Two accused people thinking in the same way!!!!

Within a minute Tinku’s station arrived and he got down and there were 4 more stations to Nikhil’s destination. He glanced at her again and again and longed that she get down before him so that he could have a closer look when she gets down. He opened his bag and took the Sidney Sheldon novel in which over the past week he has not even crossed 25 pages. Not in sigh he threw it back into the bag and waited. At last Nikhil’s stationed too arrived but he was in no mood to get down as though feeling a separation of a decade’s bondage but he had to. He took one last glance at her and unwillingly got down as the train slowed down.

He reluctantly climbed the stairs and moved amidst the crowded lobby and somehow got on to the road. He got his fauvorite 5 star chocolate from the potti kadai and walked dreaming all the way chewing the chocolate. As he took the left turn near the Hanuman koil it was as though a 1000 watts bulb was glowing inside Nikhil. The same girl and the man were walking behind him. Suddenly an instinct told him ‘did I do something wrong…was he following me…No way…’ He turned back slightly and looked at her. She looked even more beautiful in the shining sodium vapour lamp. Is this what we call as ‘Backward Glance’!!! Nikhil felt that there is some chemistry working between the two!!!

He looked back in regular intervals so as to see where they are parting. He neared his home but still they were coming behind. A slight fear rose inside Nikhil but he felt his courage too. He entered his apartment and so did the two. Nikhil was totally confused and they entered flat no 12. Nikhil lived in flat number 11 and when he came to know that they were the new occupants of his opposite flat he was flying in the sky!!! His joy had no bounds. He switched on his computer and played Bryan Adams’ “I m on cloud #9”. What a song to match the situation!!!
