Vandaal Vasanthi…

The Hollywood movies that are dubbed in Tamil are given funky names but what if in case of Bollywood. This one I got it from a cross table conversation in my college canteen a few months back…Ignorance to the core! Nothing gets more comical than interpretations like these…

A: Avan Edho padathuku ponan da…
B: enna padam?
A: Vandaal vasanthi
B: “Vandaal vasanthi”ya???
B: Edho pazhe padam madhiri irukku…
A: Illa da, edho pudu super hit movie aam…
B: Otha! “RANG DE BASANTI” ya!!!!!!!

After the overwhelming succces of Vandaal vasanthi plans have been drafted to dub all the new hindi movies into Tamil
Antony Kaun hai- Yaar Anda Annamalai
Ahista Ahista
Ayidcha ayidcha
Kabhi Alvida Naa KehnaKaasi Alva naa tharavaa.

This can also be greatly attributed to these transformations
like how Bothack became ‘but-aack’ and finally BUTTOCK
And Bluesaze became Blue’s ASS

Yesterday went to SVCE for the symposium. There was one biz event and I sat for the GD, guess what those freaky guys and gals sitting around gave as the topic “pre marital sex!!!” had some heated discussions and also great fun. Then got selected for the final which was a biz quiz, there was one round where teams have to tell as many brand names in 30 seconds in the given category. Like for car you have to say alto, beetle, ikon etc. Guess what we got “alcoholic products!” We managed 10 brands in 30 seconds! At last we lost.
PS: For crappy and sucking symposia get your destination right-SVCE.

Shereen Bhan vs Avantika singh

I have a thing about watching news channels and try to spend at least a few minutes before the idiot box grasping something. I generally do this channel hopping whenever something dreary turns up but when any one of these ladies is on the screen I never tend to do it though the news may be lackluster.

I am not the only one like this. A few months back when I was lavishly spending my time in this somewhat useless website I came across a community for Avantika Singh and it had some 40 members. Oh! I am also into the race, I increased the counter by one. Then sometime later I found another community for Sheeren Bhan, the beauty from CNBC with 20 odd members. Now when I get back to take the pics, OMG there are 225 other jobless people like me. There are two other communities with 100 people in it.

The point is they are not just beauty dolls but are also good entrepreneurs and also have made it big in the business world. They have got their own style, charisma and presentation skills. For instance Sheeren was the FICCI woman of the year 2005. I have a greater affinity towards CNN IBN (shereen!) than the other news channels. ‘Headlines today’ has got babes and smart guys as news readers but doesn’t live upto the standards and NDTV is the worst when it comes to this fact. IMHO the standard of NDTV has faded away after Rajdeep Sardesai ventured with IBN. ‘Times now’ has got a long way to go. The sad point is that I am not able to find sheeren’s blog in the ibnlive site. Everyone else has got it :(

Paadhi Engineer!!!

Well begun is half done. Now it’s half done…yippee I am a half engineer now. As usual the VeANNAi University after all hiatus released the results on Friday, some three months after we wrote the exams. The univ makes the students to forget the name of the subjects they wrote the previous semester and also it puts up shit in its dumb site just putting the subject codes beside the mark. It becomes infuriating to decipher in which subject you have scored how much and for some people in which paper they have flunked! Pragmatically you cannot expect in which paper you will get a cup.

This time there was no suspense and hype. It was when I was eating people started calling “Machi result vandurchu….CUT”. I hurriedly switched on the modem and opened the Anna univ site. Then I keyed in the number and hooray “Aatha! Naaa paasayiten !”. When I was manipulating the marks of all others in excel I just came up with this one.

Did you track its path? Apde alternata eri erungudu…Next time will i be able to hook it up?pogara pokka patha chancey illa!!!!

Avittam syndrome!

Yesterday was a function called as Aavani avittam (this day, on the month of Shravana, was the first day of the Fall semester in the good old Vedic schools). But now-a-days this is being celebrated as day when people change their holy thread (poonal) and eat home food with vada payasam etc.

I being a lad from an iyengar family was bound to do such holy rituals. Earlier when I did my high schooling in Ahobila Math, this day was given so much importance and students were given holidays for both Aavani avittam and Gayathri japam(the succeeding day) but in an engineering college where people assume that Brahmins(iyers) having cars as Iyen-‘gar’, it was out of scope of the people to understand AA but still all iyeru pasanga(slang)were given on duty leave for the day’s first half.

I decided to write this post mainly because of this person, my vaathi (vedic pundit), a good friend of my thatha (grandfather). As usual vaathi came for the AA. His knowledge was quite extensive and he had answers for all vedic related questions. He would be around 60 I guess and has got a cell phone. What he said really amazed me “Mama (not the usual addressing in college, it is also used to address other male elders in Brahmin communities) enaku SMS free…daily oru mandram type panni 80 peruku message anuparen, avalukum punniyam…enakum punniyam”

Then my thatha complained of the poonal being very light for which he replied “naraya peru lighta daan kekara aduvum illama seekarama arundadaan aduthu enna koopiduva!!”. Though he said this only on a lighter manner!

Watched the movies Parijatham and Imsai, will post my responses soon.

HaPpY BiRtHdAy To Me…

Today turned out to be a great day and one of the most memorable days. Slept late in the night and woke up a little early and realized that today was my birthday and I have turned NINTEEN! As usual I forgot that I had my unit test today (may be intentional) and hurried off to college putting on the new dress and taking the chocolate bars from the refrigerator that I had stocked the previous night.

Many studs in the college bus were having their books on their laps as usual for the UT and I sit staring and dreaming. Then there comes this heavy DBMS book which was supposed to be today’s exam. Shucks! Somehow I managed to study for a few minutes just because it was my birthday and gave a bang to the book. I entered my class and wishes poured in from all my dear friends. With some last minute glances, I wrote well.

The guys have already got everything planned for the evening. Next was the network lab and some 25 guys were sent out for not writing the observation and no doubts, yours truly was also one among them. Then after ten minutes the mam asked us to get to our systems and work as she found that we were enjoying standing aside. Then some three boring hours and all my comrades planned to come to my friend’s room to celebrate. Thanks to Orkut, everyone whom you know knows that you have your birthday today and some people whom I have rarely seen came and wished. Not to leave aside the innumerable birthday messages from near and dear ones.

Then we went to the room directly and some went to their home and came (raja, mahesh, samba, dhaadi, kudi, mama, bhai, sano and satti). For an hour or so time went on vetti chatting and kalaichifying with some dancing, singing and other extra effects. Then dhaadi and mama went to collect the cake and other items. It never goes as planned-guys instructed not to smash the cake and we divide it. Then 19 candles were planted and mama suggested the light effects, I blew off the candles with the rhythmic “happy birthday to you….” which you could have heard even standing some two streets away.

It all governs with “survival of the fastest”. How to finish off a 1 kg chocolate cake in 20 seconds….no 10 seconds! Place both your hands and drag as much as you can. Repeated like Mahesh’s birthday which we did in the college on the farewell day. I am not able to express it in words how I felt when my face was covered with chocolate cream and I was drenched with cold Mirinda. We devoured the cake and then I took bath, rested and returned home.

Thank you guys…One of the best birthdays I have ever had!!!
